GETTING STARTED

Who can sell on MelanMark?

MelanMark is exclusively for Black-owned businesses based in the U.S. We welcome sellers across all eight of our product categories: Art & Collectibles, Baby & Kids, Beauty & Grooming, Fashion & Accessories, Food & Beverage, Home & Living, Stories & Sounds, and Wellness & Ritual.

What business types are NOT allowed?

To protect the quality and integrity of the marketplace, we do not accept:

  • Dropshipping businesses
  • MLM (multi-level marketing) or affiliate products
  • Reselling of third-party brands
  • Ingestible supplements, herbal remedies, or ingestible wellness products

Note: Wellness & Ritual products are welcome on MelanMark. The restriction applies specifically to ingestible supplements and herbal remedies, not the category as a whole.

Is there an application process?

Yes. Every vendor goes through a screening process to ensure alignment on quality, values, and readiness. It’s intentional. We’re building a marketplace worth being part of, and that starts with who’s in it. You’ll receive next steps once your application is reviewed.

How long does it take to get approved?

Most applications are reviewed within 3–5 business days. You’ll receive an email once approved or if we need additional information. We appreciate your patience as we make sure every shop aligns with our standards.

SELLING & SUPPORT

What are the fees?

No listing fees. No surprise charges. MelanMark charges a commission on each sale, with rates that vary slightly by category. Paid membership tiers unlock additional platform features for vendors who want to grow further.

How do MelanMark’s fees compare to Etsy and Amazon?

We keep it simple. No listing fees, ad charges you didn’t ask for, or category-based commission tiers that are hard to predict. Just a straightforward path to growth.

How do I get paid?

Payouts are processed up to 14 days after a customer’s payment is received. To receive your funds, you’ll connect a Stripe account during setup. Stripe is our secure payment processor and deposits directly to your bank.

The initial 14-day hold is standard practice for newer platforms. It protects against fraud, reduces chargeback risk, and keeps the marketplace fair for every buyer and seller. As your shop builds a history of successful orders, you may become eligible for faster payouts based on Stripe’s review process.

Can I link to my own website or social media?

To keep the marketplace fair and focused, vendors may not direct customers to purchase off-platform or include external website links. This keeps all traffic and sales within MelanMark, which means more visibility for every vendor, a stronger collective presence, and a community where everyone has a real shot at being discovered.
